Title: | Access and Society as Determinants of Ischaemic Heart Disease in Indigenous Populations |
Issue Date: | 2010 |
Publisher: | |
Description: | Curtis et al. analyse data on Māori and non-Māori rates of Ischaemic Heart Disease (IHD). Their findings reveal disparities in risk factors, hospitalisations, mortality, and receipt of related procedures. They conclude that Māori receive relatively low access to appropriate care for IHD, and suggest that three key factors – the role of society, policy, and the clinician – need to be considered in working to reduce inequalities between Māori and non-Māori. |
