dcterms.abstractThis photograph illustrates the substaintial stage setting designed by Hilary Clark for the production of Christopher Fry's {{The lady's not for burning}}. The play was performed in the Concert Chamber at Auckland's Town Hall, a key venue for amateur theatre in this period, although, being more expensive to hire than St. Andrews Hall, it was only used for larger productions. Staged by the Combined Dramatic Societies of Auckland under the auspices of Auckland Drama Council from 14-21 July, 1951 this theatre production was the largest Auckland had seen in a long time.en
