Abstract

In this article, Gresson reflects on the way that sound art in New Zealand is politically engaged. He makes reference to From Scratch, performing in protests against nuclear testing in the South Pacific, and mentions a range of sound artists making politically engaged work. He ends by asking what an exhibition of such works would look like, with a comment on the need for artists to engage in 'overt political activism', given the current political climate in New Zealand.
