Abstract: 'The self-portrait above is by Rita Angus. It is in the style that this artist has made well-known in our exhibitions under the name of Rita Cook. With the change in her signature goes an interesting development in her work; she is now engaged on large symbolic paintings which will be a more direct expression of her deep and gentle personal philosophy. We hope nevertheless that her highly characteristic portraiture will continue.'
