Title: Sculpture casts a spell
Publisher: INZART/The University of Auckland Library=Te Tumu Herenga
Abstract: "On 11 February, Michael Parekowhai's much anticipated and hotly debated public sculpture, 'The Lighthouse' was unveiled on Queens Wharf in Auckland. In the following days people queued outside, waiting to peer inside the windows at a highly polished, stainless-steel sculpture of Captain Cook inside the state house look-alike. Clearly, the public are spellbound by this latest addition to Auckland Council's public art collection. Over summer, Art News checked out some outdoor sculpture - 2016 NZ Sculpture Onshore, 2017 headlands Sculpture on the Gulf, Brick Bay Sculpture Trail, Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens, Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden, and Connells Bay Sculpture Park."
