The current Australian exhibition at the City Art Gallery gives an opportunity to reflect on the fact that, since 1962, Australian artists have been enjoying something very close to a boom. Two major exhibitions in London - at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1962, and at the Tate Gallery in 1963 - they have firmly established Australian art on the international scene.-
