Title: | Wunderlich exhibition to be seen only in Auckland |
Publisher: | INZART/The University of Auckland Library=Te Tumu Herenga |
Abstract: | "One of the notable qualities of an important artist is his ability to communicate an authoritative and personal way of looking at things which we observers may respond to an perhaps share. The degree to which he can succeed in this task is a measure of his calibre, yet to reach a real assessment of his significance one needs to have the opportunity to see his work in bulk. For the German printmaker and painter Paul Wunderlich the Auckland City Art Gallery's next exhibition will offer such an opportunity, for the show, due to open on November 13, comprises some 225 lithographs covering the full chronological range of his works in this medium and including most of his most important productions." |
