Abstract

"When the Iron smith, Moel Gregg of Christchurch, finally convinced two friends that it would be excellent idea to purchase a half-acre site of a city property situated on the banks of Christchurch's most prominent aesthetic feature, the Avon River, it was with the sole purpose of fulfilling an ambition to establish upon it, somewhere that would become "home" to other artists or craftsmen; somewhere where each could call his or hers in an environment with a friendly atmosphere."
