한국-뉴질랜드간의 경제협력과 FTA에 관한연구 = (A) Study on the economic cooperation and FTA between Korea and New Zealand

Abstract

This article selects New Zealand among the nations with whom Korea is currently negotiating a free trade agreement (FTA). Since 2003, Korea has promoted FTA negotiations with several nations including Chile, EFTA, Singapore, ASEAN, India, USA, EU, and Peru), and is in negotiations with Canada, Mexico, GCC, Australia, New Zealand, Columbia, Turkey. Promoting FTA with some key countries plays an important role in the Korea economy which depends heavily on the foreign sector. Korean and New Zealand trading structures seem to be complementary. Korean exports are mainly centered on manufactured products, while New Zealand exports primary goods such as timber and beef. In order to analyse industrial competitiveness of the two nations, this study has used the RCA and TSI indices.
