Abstract: Paewai-Mullins Shearing was the first shearing gang in the world to achieve accreditation under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), more commonly known as ISO 9000. Obtaining this accreditation was a huge undertaking for small New Zealand business; the reasons for seeking accreditation and the process that Paewai-Mullins Shearing followed in order to gain ISO 9002 accreditation are outlined in this case. The information presented in this case study was gathered from an interview conducted with Mavis Mullins nee Paewai, a current owner of the business and granddaughter of the founder of the company
