Abstract: Jon Gibson is the Manufacturing Manager of Kiwi Packaging (Cartons) Limited, a Lower Hutt plant that manufactures cardboard cartons for packaging consumer products such as soap powders, toothpaste, pharmaceuticals, light bulbs and so on. This factory has a staff of 77 and produces 65 million cartons annually. To produce to order four operations were required, printing, cutting and gluing and reinforcing the cartons on the inside (taping). A schedule was required to produce an order in time.
