Abstract

Hannah Wong hated her boyfriend's apartment. Its cramped space, inadequate electrical wiring, and kitchenette, compact refrigerator, microwave oven, and sink, left much to be desired. There were only two power points, both on the same distribution branch, and they often couldn't be used at the same time. If the microwave was in use, for example, and the refrigerator compressor cycled “on”, the circuit breaker would “trip” due to an overload from the combined currents. It wasn’t long before the hassle of trying to juggle the power and the inconvenient trips down the hall to the electrical panel combined to put Hannah “over the top”
