Title: Building the new generation National Library
Issue Date:  21
Publisher: Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG)
Abstract: This is the first of a three-case series (410-055-1 to 410-057-1). In 2009, New Zealand's National Digital Heritage Archive (NZDHA)project was launched. The $24 million project, initiated in 2004, had been delivered on time and under budget. This case study can be used to discuss the strategic alignment of an organisation facing the rapid evolution of its role; aspects of leadership including whether a visionary leader who has raised the external profile of an organisation can also effect culture change; the relationship between organisational and physical design, and the issues arising when an organisation includes multiple cultures, some with deeply entrenched differences. Associated cases in a three-case series (410-055-1 to 410-057-1)
