Abstract: | In the mid-1980s Dr Corran McLachlan, a government scientist with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), initiated research into the removal of fat from meat and the removal of cholesterol from butter. In 1989 the joint venture company Tenon Developments Limited was formed by Morrinsville-Thames Valley Cooperative Dairy Company (MTV) and Dr Corran McLachlan. This case study outlines the development of the extraction processes required to produce healthier dairy products whilst discussing the changes and mergers within and between Dairy cooperatives and the New Zealand Dairy Group and New Zealand Dairy Board |
