Abstract: | Cartriona Britton speaks to Chartwell Trust founder, Rob Gardiner. Discusses artworks in the Chatwell Collection that include sound components or are linked to music. Describes a collaboration between the Auckland Art Gallery and the Auckland Philharmonia entitled, 'Gallery of Sound', which responded to works on display including paintings by Gretchen Albrecht. Discusses the 2017 Chartwell show, curated by Natasha Conland, which addresses the relationship between sound, image, space and time. Comments on audience interaction and gallery restrictions around et al.'s 'Upright Piano' (2013) and discusses Julian Dashper's solo show 'The Big Bang Theory' (1993). |
