Abstract: | Profiles the art practice of multi-media artist Janet Lilo. Discusses 'The Normandie Research Project' where the artist walked the 80 kilometres from Rouen to Le Harve, and the resulting group exhibition 'Pacifique(s) contemporain' (2015). Speaks to work presented in the group show 'Rituals' at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, and in Lilo's solo exhibition at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, 'Janet Lilo: Status Update' (2016). Describes recent works included as part of 'Shout Whisper Wail! The 2017 Chartwell Show', the Baker Douglas Annual Commission for the 2017 Auckland Festival of Photography and a trio of light-columns installed on Karangahape Road. |
