dc.description.abstractMegan Dunn speaks to Xin Cheng in Hamburg about the idea of shelter, makeshift structures, situational artworks and the idea of art as a 'tool to change the culture of living'. Discusses the artist's frugal living practices and resourcefulness. Explores recent projects by Cheng including works as part of the Sa Sa Arts residency in Cambodia and Changing Lanes for Artweek 2016. Discusses influences during the artist's undergraduate degree at Elam School of Fine Arts and currently at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, where Chen is completing her Master's degree. Describes a recent trip to Mexico where Chen participated in a two-month project entitled 'In Solidarity: Living, Making, Together' where the artist worked on collaborative projects involving the community and hosted workshops.-
