Abstract: "The Peters Doig Art Awards are not only a chance for new New Zealand artists to raise their profile, but it also gives them an opportunity to experience a judging selection process while meeting and viewing other artists from across the country. It turns out that the Arts Society here in Marlborough value the Peters Doig awards as an arts community building activity just as much as it as a way of recognising new New Zealand art talent."
