dc.description.abstract | "The very strange and sometimes bewildering nature of human behaviour prevails among gallery exhibitions worth taking time out for this month in Christchurch." Warren Feeney briefly describes and reviews ten exhibitions, including: "meticulous" and "haunting" works by Kushana Bush; a "confronting and bittersweet" series of portraits inspired by online dating profiles by Roger Boyce; a survey exhibition of Kelcy Taratoa's work; an exhibition celebrating the lives and legacies of fifty Kāi Tahu wāhine; and an interactive installation by Mandy Cherry Joass which "uses raranga (weaving), to explore themes that extend perceptions about traditional Maori imagery, techniques and materials that, when woven together, raise questions about the fabric of a bicultural society". | - |
