Abstract:	Article reviews 'A Gathering Distrust' and reflects on Wells' childhood connection to Lake Manapouri, influence of potter Yvonne Rust, the 2017 Olivia Spencer Bower Award, and the 'Save Manapouri' protests. Article discusses two film works and 11 hand-built ceramics included in the exhibition, a "choice of materials" that reflects "the argument for industrial growth" in conversation with "the ecological values of the protesters".
