Title: | Elliot Collins surveyor : the land of our longing, the land of our belonging |
Authors: | Poulsen, Ann |
Publisher: | INZART / The University of Auckland Library = Te Tumu Herenga |
Abstract: | Article speaks to Elliot Collins' exhibition 'Surveyor', as part of his doctoral submission, which transforms the gallery into "a site for reflecting on the implications of culture prevailing over nature, for considering the human experience of time and history as compared to the cycles of nature." Article reflects on references made to New Zealand's colonial history through the use of ordnance maps, and individual artworks which "function as rhetorical commonplaces for storing experiences, for lodging references, for constructing intertextual meaning." |
