Abstract: Article speaks to new masi (Fijian tapa) works by Arts Laureate Robin White (Pākehā, Ngāti Awa) exhibited at Two Rooms in the show 'Something is happening here'. Includes discussion of White's collaboration with Fijian artist Tamari Cabeikanacea and Tongan artist Ruha Fifita to create the works, living in Kiribati, and her Bahá'í faith. Contains quotation from White reflecting on her tutelage under Colin McCahon at Elam School of Fine Arts. Mentions White's use of earth pigments, natural dyes and tuitui (candlenut soot) on ngatu (barkcloth) to create the tapa works.
