Discusses works produced while traveling the South Pacific aboard the Wairarapa, including 'Native women making kava', 'Māori Kaik, Akaroa', and '"Sophia" & her nieces at Whakarewarewa'. Describes 'The Māori at Home' as an early example of photojournalism, and considers the work 'Hydraulic Gold Mining, St. Bathan's, Otago' originally by William Paterson Hart. |
