Abstract: Review of Sriwhana Spong exhibition 'a hook but no fish' (2018), completed as part of her residency with Govett-Brewster, which centres on German mystic Hildegard von Bingen. Reflects on multi-disciplinary works included in the exhibition, the use of sound and fast food, mysticism and Spong's religious upbringing. Mentions the assembly of Spong's evolving indigenous Balinese orchestra known as Gamelan. Mentions previous works and upcoming shows at The Dowse and Spike Island in Bristol.
