Article considers strategies of denial employed in contemporary politics through the aid of social media and the implementation of economic reforms by successive New Zealand governments in the late 20th century. Discusses "New Zealand's foundational denial" of te ao Māori, and considers Ralph Hotere's work 'Treaty of Waitangi' in which the artist "reasserts Mananui Te Heuheu Tukino II's rejection of te Tiriti o Waitangi." Discusses Michael Stevenson's exhibition titled 'Call Me Immendorf' and considers the affect of denial on New Zealand art practice today.-
