Discusses the collection's features including commissioned portraits of the collector and the appearance of religious works, as well as provenance of a number of photographs purchased from Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco. Considers the impact of McLeavey on the arts in New Zealand, and mentions a number of artists represented by the gallery. Mentions the 1997 photographic exhibition 'Masterworks of 19th Century New Zealand Photography'. |
