Abstract: | This case concerns the challenge of achieving a new industry structure against a background of powerful stakeholders with conflicting viewpoints. The case is set in the New Zealand dairy industry, an industry that generates around 20% of that country's exports. The question proposed is: how can the merger be achieved given the prevailing views of stakeholders, and under what conditions might it be allowed?
