Title: | The art of invisibility |
Publisher: | INZART/The University of Auckland Library=Te Tumu Herenga |
Abstract: | 'I remember going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York many years ago and being confronted by a giant red colour-field painting by Mark Rothko. The colour was so intense and immersive; how could this be conveyed in a tiny art book reproduction? While scale isn't something that can realistically be dealt with in a book, accurate colour and a sense of texture can aid in defining the characteristics of works of art.' |
