Abstract

Kelly Talton's Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World is an aquarium located under Tamaki Drive on Auckland City's waterfront. Opened in 1985, it was considered one of New Zealand's leading tourism experiences but had a number of operational issues. This case study outlines the operation, concentrating on supply and demand management, capacity, layout and service quality. The case is divided into three parts; 1. background and history, 2. business environment in which the company operates, 3. the supply chain operations and quality management issues of the company.
