Authors: Conland, Natasha
Publisher: INZART / The University of Auckland Library = Te Tumu Herenga
Abstract: Article speaks to the installation-based practice of art collective et al. Considers their focus on "the aesthetics and architecture of the institution", and use of two interrelated devices within their works: "the construction or "structuring" of matter via the aesthetics of the institution, and the strategy of "play" as a destabilising force." Discusses their works 'simultaneous invalidations_second attempt' (2000-01), 'abnormal mass delusions?' (2003), 'the fundamental practice' (2005), 'restricted access' (2004) 'Maintenance of Social Solidarity' (2006-), 'that's obvious, that's right, that's true' (2009) and 'many-to-many' (2013), as well as photographic works by Minerva Betts. Contains biographical information about the artists and instability of their pseudonym.
